Battery recycling in Cameroon: Ecopreneurs 237 webinar at the heart of FLEC training
As part of the FLEC program – Future Leaders for Energy in Cameroon, 30 students from the Renewable Energy Department at the University of Yaoundé I participated in a webinar hosted by the Ecopreneurs 237 network on the recycling of used batteries. Specialist Nkous Arsène, a member of Ecopreneurs 237, presented the key stages of the process: collection, sorting and dismantling, second life, reconditioning, and mobile unit. He emphasized the importance of recycling for the environment, the circular economy, and local employment, highlighting recoverable materials such as cobalt, copper, and manganese. This webinar raised participants' awareness of the economic and ecological opportunities associated with recycling, while connecting them to a community of change makers. The FLEC project is implemented by CECOSDA with the support of the Schneider Electric Foundation and has already trained more than 2,500 young people in Cameroon.
