About CECOSDA

Centre for Communication and Sustainable Development for All

Innovating for green energy

Who are we?

CECOSDA is a Cameroonian non-governmental organization created in 2012 to use communication, training and community action to advance sustainable development.

The organization was officially authorized by prefectoral order in 2013 and operates with the status of a Cameroonian NGO under the competent public administration.

CECOSDA works primarily with women, children, young people, technicians, entrepreneurs and communities with limited access to training, economic opportunities and reliable energy.

Histoire de CECOSDA

Our Story

When CECOSDA was created in 2012, its activities covered broad sustainable-development and environmental-protection themes.

The organization carried out awareness campaigns in schools, community information activities and training sessions on environmental protection, citizenship and sustainable development.

These first years enabled CECOSDA to understand the realities faced by schools, women, young people and underserved communities.

Since 2016, CECOSDA has progressively specialized in green energy and green entrepreneurship as practical drivers of community development.

This specialization has led to the development of permanent programmes in solar energy, electricity, technical training, youth incubation, women’s access to energy and sustainable entrepreneurship.

Our Mission

Our mission is to improve access to green-energy knowledge, technical skills, sustainable entrepreneurship and practical solutions that strengthen communities.

We design programmes that help beneficiaries learn, innovate, create activities, improve their employability and respond to the energy needs of their communities.

CECOSDA’s vision is a Central Africa where women, children, young people, technicians and communities can access the skills, opportunities and green-energy solutions needed to build a sustainable future.

We aim to contribute to a region in which energy challenges are transformed into opportunities for education, innovation, employment, entrepreneurship and community resilience.

How we work

CECOSDA works through two complementary approaches: permanent programmes and partner-funded projects.

Our permanent programmes allow us to provide continuous services, training, incubation, technical support and community activities.

Our funded projects enable us to extend our reach, test new solutions, support vulnerable beneficiaries and respond to specific community needs.

Each programme and project is designed with objectives, beneficiaries, expected results, indicators, implementation tools and reporting mechanisms.

Team

CECOSDA is supported by a multidisciplinary team made up of programme managers, trainers, engineers, technicians, communication professionals, project specialists, administrative staff and community facilitators.

Approximately 80% of the people who contribute to our activities are volunteers.

Volunteering is therefore a central part of CECOSDA’s identity and operating model.

Our volunteers are not simply occasional helpers. They are integrated into a structured programme with defined roles, orientation, supervision, activity plans, reporting and opportunities for skills development.

Depending on their profile, volunteers may contribute to training, communication, community mobilization, event organization, data collection, technical activities, mentoring, project development and administration.

Our Volunteer Programme

Programme de volontariat CECOSDA

The CECOSDA Volunteer Programme enables students, young graduates, professionals, technicians, experts and community leaders to contribute to meaningful activities while strengthening their experience.

Volunteers receive an induction, a clear assignment, a supervisor, work tools and periodic feedback.

Their assignments may be short-term, programme-based, project-based, technical, administrative or community-focused.

Our Centre

CECOSDA has a spacious centre designed to host training sessions, conferences, workshops, incubation activities, community meetings and professional events.

The centre can accommodate up to 200 people, depending on the type and configuration of the activity.

Its learning environment promotes discipline, collaboration, innovation, responsibility, inclusion and respect for shared spaces.

The centre is powered partly through solar energy, making it a practical demonstration site for the solutions promoted by CECOSDA.

It includes spaces for training, teamwork, technical practice, meetings, presentations and programme coordination.

Our partners

Since its creation, CECOSDA has implemented activities and projects with the support of technical, financial and institutional partners.

Organizations that have supported or financed CECOSDA projects include the Schneider Electric Foundation, ADEME, Fondation de France and UNESCO.

These collaborations have helped CECOSDA expand training activities, improve access to green-energy knowledge and strengthen support for young people and communities.

Our Impact Since 2012

Since 2012, CECOSDA has grown from a general environmental-awareness initiative into an organization with permanent programmes focused on green energy, technical training, youth development, women’s access to energy and green entrepreneurship.

The organization has carried out awareness campaigns, school activities, technical training, community programmes, incubation initiatives, conferences and partner-funded projects.

Thousands of young people have been reached through energy, environmental and skills-development activities.

CECOSDA has trained learners in schools and communities, strengthened a network of trainers and volunteers, and created practical spaces for experimentation and learning.

Through FLEC and related initiatives, young people are introduced to electricity, solar energy, innovation and green entrepreneurship.

Through SolarDjangui, CECOSDA is developing pathways to improve access to quality solar solutions for women and underserved communities.

Through CECOSDAFormation, technicians and other beneficiaries can strengthen their technical, professional, digital and entrepreneurial skills.

Through Ecopreneur237, CECOSDA creates learning and networking opportunities for entrepreneurs working on energy, waste, circular economy and other sustainable solutions.

Through its projects and partnerships, the organization continues to test, improve and expand solutions adapted to the realities of Central African communities.

Our Commitment

CECOSDA is committed to remaining a professional, accessible and impact-driven organization.

We combine social commitment with structured programmes, technical expertise, responsible management, strong partnerships and continuous learning.
